ans) A Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) is a framework which supports the identification and distribution of public encryption keys. It provides a set of procedures and policies for establishing the secure exchange of information and enables individuals and systems to exchange data over potentially unsecured networks like the Internet and to authenticate and verify the identity of the party they’re communicating with.

In addition to public key encryption and the use of digital certificates, a Public Key Infrastructure consists of several elements.

There are different types of systems in a PKI:

1)Private and Public Key Systems : Private systems are symmetric cryptography and a public systems are asymmetric cryptography. Currently, public key systems are the most common.

2)Symmetric Encryption Systems : The same key is used for both the processes of encryption and decryption.

3)Asymmetric Encryption Systems : A different key is used for each process. One key is the public key and the other key is the private key. If something is encrypted with the public key, then decryption can only be done with the private key. Alternatively, if something is encrypted with the private key, then decryption must be done only with the public key.

C)Define Meta Search Engine. List the various advantages of Meta Search Engine.

Ans)A meta search engine  is a type of search engine that gives results based on a combination of results from other search engine databases. It specializes in concatenating databases from a variety of search engines and linking search results to relevant sources.

Meta search engines use a complex algorithm that allows virtual databases to be generated on the fly. A virtual database "virtually" mirrors the physical database results of other search engines.

All search result information and data are listed in a virtual database, and searches may be concentrated according to varied criteria. Thus, no two meta search engines are alike because they all operate with different criteria, such as news sites and newsgroups, depending on the algorithm designed to perform specified search functions.

Advantages of meta search engine:

(1) Lower pricing: Using metasearch, hotels can list their rooms for lower than the competing OTA pricing since they don’t have to pay commission fees when using metasearch as they would if a consumer booked through an OTA. Much like Paid Search, metasearch is also on a cost-per-click (CPC) basis. By having a consumer click on the hotel’s metasearch ad instead of the OTA, the cost per booking will likely decrease in comparison to an OTA booking. The CPC is typically much lower than the OTA’s commission rate.

(2) Direct Bookings: Metasearch drives additional direct website bookings as travelers are able to book their hotel room directly on the hotel’s website instead of an OTA website. After a traveler inputs their check in/check out date, they have the option of going directly to the hotel’s website which not only drives brand awareness but also drives direct bookings.

(3) SERP Real Estate: Using metasearch, hotels can take up more ‘real estate’ on the SERP and drive additional brand awareness which is key when competing head to head with the OTAs.

(4) Real-Time Bid Management: Generally, metasearch engines offer real-time bid management and tracking so brands can adjust their advertising campaigns to meet consumer demands as well as track the effects of the campaigns to make sure advertising dollars are being spent correctly.

(5) Accessibility to reviews: Typically, consumers will choose a hotel with higher ratings. Consumers that are leveraging metasearch engines will have accessibility to reviews through Google, for example. Star ratings and reviews will populate, providing consumers with a much more seamless experience.

A)What is E-Commerce? How it can be useful in the market?

ans)E-commerce, known as electronic commerce or internet commerce, refers to the buying and selling of goods or services using the internet, and the transfer of money and data to execute these transactions. E-commerce is often used to refer to the sale of physical products online, but it can also describe any kind of commercial transaction that is facilitated through the internet.

Use of E-commerce :

1)Increase in sales

  According to reliable statistics, there has been a tremendous increase in online sales over the last couple of years. It is estimated that the revenue of a business that incorporates an e-commerce platform can increase by up to 250%. This is attributed to the fact that most people prefer the ease of access and convenience that comes with e-commerce platforms. This is especially true for those systems that are able to process credit card payments together with payments from top online processors like PayPal.

2)Increase in Customers

   It is clear that e-commerce brings in a lot of convenience in terms of payments. This therefore automatically invites more customers and also impulse buyers. The fact that the online payment system may accept different modes of payments makes it easier for the small business to get customers of diverse backgrounds.

3)Ability to be open 24/7

   Many businesses that do not use e-commerce may find it difficult to be open 24/7 due to the multiple overheads that come with it in terms of staff and utility payments. 4)Instant processing of transactions

   E-commerce enables businesses to transact instantly. This takes away the hassles that come with other modes of payment that may require the merchant to wait up to 30 days (sometimes more) to access their payments. E-commerce transactions clear in seconds and merchants can either receive funds immediately or wait for only 2 or 3 days to get the cash in their bank accounts.

  A business operating purely offline may have challenges in reaching a wide scope of customers. On the other hand e-commerce has enabled local small businesses to reach international masses. There are no limits to where the internet can reach, therefore through e-commerce platforms, people can pay for goods and services from literally any corner of the world.
